Český Krumlov: Conservation Across Decades
The Castle and Château of Český Krumlov, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992, represents one of the most complex ongoing preservation projects in central Europe. The site encompasses over 40 buildings, 5 courtyards, and a Baroque theatre with original stage machinery.
Restoration work at the site is coordinated through the NPÚ South Bohemian Regional Office in collaboration with the Jihočeský kraj administration. Annual inspections document roof structure condition, fresco stability, and masonry moisture levels.
Funding for recent interventions has drawn on the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP) EU structural funds, alongside national monument care grants from the Ministry of Culture.
